Hello Families,

I hope that you have enjoyed a fun filled or restful summer vacation. We are busy preparing for the first day of school on August 30, 8:00 – 2:45.  It has been a busy summer. Windows have been replaced in the school library and the lower grade side of the building. My sincere thanks to Roger O’Keefe and his assistants for the good work they have done this summer to ensure that our school building is sparkling.

Please join me in welcoming several new staff members to the school: Elizabeth Cope – SLP, Sarah Tolley – special educator, Sean Hirten – middle school humanities teacher, Cassandra Vanasse – para educator, Brian McCurley – behavior interventionist, and Erin Hill - assistant cook. I am grateful to have such well-qualified, enthusiastic people joining us here at Brighton. I am happy to inform you that our student enrollment is growing. Please take the opportunity to welcome new students and staff members at the First Day of School Celebration.

All new and returning students are required to complete registration. If you have not already done so, please register your child by visiting http://registration.ncsuvt.org. Please review the Brighton School Student and Parent Handbook accessed through the school website http://bes.ncsuvt.org. You may request a hard copy of the handbook by contacting our new administrative assistant, Susan Vera. The current bus schedule can also be accessed through the school website.

Mark your calendars for Brighton’s annual First Day of School Celebration on Tuesday, August 30 from 5:00 – 6:30pm. Please consider joining or volunteering to support the Brighton Home and School Association. Our school would benefit from a more active parent group. Current Home and School Association Members will be available 4:30 – 5:00 and 6:30 - 7:00 to recruit you and record your availability for meetings and/or volunteer opportunities. I look forward to seeing your children on the first day of school and families that evening for the First Day of School Celebration. There will be plenty of food, fun, and music too.

See you soon.

Denise Russell
